iOS 4.2.1 for iPad, iPhone and iPod

After months of waiting, iOS 4.2.1 is finally here, and the update is simply amazing, especially for iPad owners, who have been stuck with iOS 3 for more than a half year. The release brings all the iOS features already being enjoyed by current iPhone owners, plus a few new ones, namely:

• Multitasking: The iPad is now able to run multiple apps simultaneously, such as music streaming services, instant messaging, etc… Note that a lot of iPad-specific apps do not support this feature just yet, and still behave exactly like they did before the update to 4.2, but most developers are working on making their apps fully compatible with the new OS, and a slew of updated apps should be made available within the next coming weeks
• Folders: Users are now allowed to group several applications into individual folders
• AirPrint: iPad owners will now be able to print emails and photos directly to a printer on a wireless network.
• AirPlay: Users are now able to stream photos, music or video directly form their iPad to an Apple TV or other AV equipment supporting the new feature. Denon, Marantz, JBL, iHome and B&W have announced support for AirPlay and plan to release products with the feature later this year.
• GameCenter: Users can now buy games directly from GameCenter, a special store specifically dedicated to games

To get the update, simply launch iTunes, connect your device, and hit “Check for Update”. Note that you may have to update iTunes first to be able to upgrade your device.
